As the climate has warmed, February rather than March has become the shoulder month between winter and spring. The sun is still quite low in the sky but there are definite signs of spring with a few flowers appearing as well as the first sprouts of some perennial plants.
I'd hoped finally to get some winter photos, snow, mist and the burn in spate but the weather wasn't bad at all. Looks like these images will have to wait for another year.
Patterns on the wall where the Braid Burn runs under the main road. The texture and shadows were brought out by the low winter sun.
Fungi on a log. I loved the range of colours here, which I didn't expect in February.
Snowdrops - the first flowers of spring. Lots of them in the park in February.
There's a derelict building in the park that has been extensively graffitted. The windows are covered in steel mesh to dissuade intruders and this created the out of focus frame for the pattern inside.
Water weed in the Braid Burn. I tried here to get the feel of the water running over the weed that glistened in the sun.
