The final month of my year-long project to capture images each month from our local park in Braidburn Valley. My aim was to reboot my photography after a year's hiatus so, rather than simply documenting the park each month, I wanted to find perspectives that were not necessarily obvious to people simply walking through the park.
This turned out to be harder than I thought - partly because of the weather. It was too good - I didn't get the shots that I envisaged such as trees in the mist, the burn in spate and snowy landscapes. The summer was hot and dry so no rainbows or dramatic clouds. I think I also over-estimated my ability to find interesting subjects and I've probably got too many shots of flowers and berries.
Overall though, I enjoyed the challenge of looking for photos in my local area and we really are lucky that we have a local park that isn't manicured and managed to sterility. I'll continue taking pictures in the park (still hoping for misty days) but maybe not so regularly.
I really like to idea of a local photographic project so I'll be moving on now to something else.
Not a particularly creative or imaginative picture but it captures this dry and sunny August. Hear, cloudless skies, kids playing in the burn. With the Pentlands always in the background.

Cascade of plums. This tree isn't in the community orchard but looks like a garden escape from at least 30 years ago. Delicious small plums.

There's a good crop of apples in the community orchard. They taste delicious.

There's alot going on on this picture. I loved the ways that the viens in the dying leaf have caught the son. But, when you look more closely at the picture, there are two eyes looking at you. And, it'sintriguing what you might see if you look through the hole.

Plane crash. The hot weather this summer has stressed the trees, especially those, like this birth, who have evolved in a cooler climate. I set out here to illustrate the premature autumn but then I noticed the toy plane stuck in the tree.

Seedheads, brambles and rowans. I decided that the final picture in my project should be taken in the last day of August. Unforunately, it was a dull, uninspiring day but I notices the sprig of rowan berries trapped in a seedhead. I liked this one because it captures three typical autumnal elements in the park.
